XnGine is a game engine created by Bethesda Softworks alongside MediaTech West, and was one of the first engines to offer full 360 degree player view rotation, polygonal 3D models, weather effects, and contoured terrain. It predated both the Descent engine and Quake engine.
Alongside two Terminator first-person shooter games, it was used by XCar: Experimental Racing and Burnout: Championship Drag Racing, as well as the The Elder Scrolls games II: Daggerfall, Legend: Battlespire, and Adventures: Redguard.
It represented an advancement from their previous engine used by The Terminator: Rampage and The Elder Scrolls: Arena, and was succeeded by Gamebryo and the Creation Engine as Bethesda's workhorse.
