Xatrix Entertainment was an American video game developer who created the Build engine based Redneck series and the Quake II engine powered Kingpin: Life of Crime for Interplay Entertainment, who they had previously made the Cyberia games for. It later reorganized as Gray Matter Studios to begin development of Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Activision under license from id Software using their Quake III engine. In 2003 Gray Matter was working on a title called Trinity: The Shatter Effect also on the Quake III engine, only for it to be cancelled. After the release of Call of Duty: United Offensive it was merged into Treyarch by Activision in 2005 for further work on the Call of Duty franchise.
