Plot[]
An UN spec ops team is sent to San Nicolas island to eliminate a deadly cult that plans to destroy Los Angeles.
Development[]
The game was first planned as a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D (and uses an upgraded version of its engine). When id Software decided to cancel the project, Apogee instead decided to continue, changing the title and story to use the assets the team had already produced.
Remake[]
A modern reimagined version of the game, titled simply Rise of the Triad was developed by Interceptor Entertainment and released in 2013.
An updated version of the original game, titled Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, was released by Nightdive Studios and New Blood Interactive in 2023.
