90's First Person Shooters Wiki

The Redneck series was created by Xatrix Entertainment and published by Interplay Entertainment using the Build engine from 3D Realms. As the name suggests it features a redneck and hillbilly theme, with aliens invading the fictitious backcountry of Hickston, Arkansas in the American South. The soundtrack features various psychobilly artists, such as the late Mojo Nixon, who also lent his voice in the games. Released for MS-DOS, the first game also saw a port in 1999 to Mac OS by Logicware. A collection of mods have been created for the series, as well as a selection of source ports.

Games[]

A further title, Off-Road Redneck Racing, was released by Interplay in 2001 without Xatrix's involvement or using Build. It was a racing game rather than a first-person shooter, given the Redneck branding when released in North America.

Xatrix published one further title with Interplay in 1999 called Kingpin: Life of Crime on the Quake II engine, before reorganizing into Gray Matter Studios to publish games with Activision.
