Origin Systems was an American video game developer and publisher best known for the Ultima and Wing Commander franchises. During the early 1990s it helped birth the modern 3D game by publishing Blue Sky Productions' titles Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss in 1992, Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds in 1993, and System Shock in 1994. In 1992 they were purchased by Electronic Arts, who published System Shock 2 under their own name.
