Looking Glass Studios was an American game developer first known as Blue Sky Productions. It helped birth the modern 3D game with Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss in 1992, Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds in 1993, and System Shock in 1994 for Origin Systems, and creating the Dark Engine for Thief: The Dark Project in 1998 for Eidos Interactive and System Shock 2 in 1999 for Electronic Arts.

Founder Paul Neurath later founded Floodgate Entertainment developing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Warren Spector left for Ion Storm to work on Deus Ex, while Ken Levine founded Irrational Games, working on System Shock 2 and later creating the BioShock series. Neurath and Spector would later reunite under OtherSide Entertainment, which has released Underworld Ascendant. Programmers Mike Kulas and Matt Toschlog founded Parallax Software, creating the Descent series.
