GT Interactive was a New York City based American video game publisher that was spun out from GoodTimes Entertainment under the direction of Ron Chaimowitz. Following the highly successful retail launch of id Software's titles, most notably Doom II: Hell on Earth, it acquired WizardWorks, FormGen Corporation, MacSoft, Humongous Entertainment (along with Cavedog Entertainment), and Time Warner Interactive Europe in 1996, took in SingleTrac and attempted to buy MicroProse in 1997, added Legend Entertainment and Reflections Interactive in 1998, and was acquired itself by Infogrames in 1999 and merged with the former Accolade, shortly thereafter renaming to Atari, Inc. in 2003.
