The Disciples fade in and out view and jump around ; when they are visible they launch a barrage of purple magic missiles. Their missiles can be dodged, but this becomes incresingly difficult when there is a group of them, so expect to take damage. Fortunately doging around a lot will often cause them to accidnetly fire at each other.
